For many celebrities, golf is their favorite sport. What could be better than breathing fresh air for a few hours, enjoying the local beauty, chatting with interesting people and at the same time having a little competition? The handicap system allows both those who regularly take to the course and those who are taking their first steps in the sport to play golf. Several Pro-Am tournaments are held throughout the year, in which both professionals and star amateurs participate. Last week there were two such competitions at once: the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland and the Safeway Open in the USA.

The first tournament was held on three courses at once, including the famous Old Course in St. Andrews. This course, which has existed for over 450 years, is the most famous in the world and deservedly called the "House of Golf". Many people dream of just seeing it, but someone is lucky to play it. For example, Andriy Shevchenko, the former forward of Dynamo Kiev, Milan and Chelsea, and now the head coach of the Ukrainian national team. By the way, on Sunday he turned 43 years old. Andrey played in a duet with the Dane Nikolai Hodjgard and showed excellent golf. Hodjgard himself played unsuccessfully and did not pass the cut in the individual standings, but their pair reached the "-34" indicator and shared the eighth place. If Shevchenko had a stronger partner, he could well have become a champion. Andrei himself scored with two needles and 13 birdies.

Another famous Ukrainian took part in this tournament - ex-boxer Vladimir Klitschko. He teamed up with Austrian Matthias Schwab. Their duo did not reach the final round, in which only 20 strongest couples performed. Klitschko and Schwab shared 142nd place out of 168 with a -12 result.

Failed to pass the cut and the famous actor Bill Murray. First of all, he became famous for two parts of "Ghostbusters", as well as the film "Groundhog Day". In addition, Murray starred in The Golf Club. It is known that Murray is very fond of golf: for example, he has been playing in the Pro-Am tournament in Pebble Beach, California almost every year for several decades. Bill played with D.A. Points, whose game did not go at all: in the individual standings, he became 159th out of 168, and the pair shared 59th place, while Murray put half of the birdie and both needles in the common piggy bank.

The famous musician Justin Timberlake got a star partner: the fourth number of the world rating Justin Rose. Rose played below his capabilities and shared only 34th place, and in the Pro-Am tournament, two namesakes took 72nd place, while Rose earned all 20 birdies and one needles, and Timberlake saved pairs for the team best hybrid golf clubs for high handicappers on several holes. The winner was the businessman Ojen Phipps and the Englishman Tommy Fleetwood with the result "-39". The same figure for the McIlroys - Rory and his father Jerry, but the fate of the title was decided by the fact that Fleetwood on Sunday struck 64 in the individual standings, and Rory - 67.

On the other side of the Atlantic, in Napa, California, the Safeway Open tournament was held. Celebrities included one of the best basketball players in the world, Stephen Curry, and former American football star Tony Romo. If Curry played only in the Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday, then Romo played in the main standings, but failed to pass the cut. Curry, on the other hand, is an excellent golf player and occasionally competes in the Challenge Tour. He even created a mini golf game show, which airs on one of the central US channels. Last week, Curry teamed up with Phil Mickelson and the duo gave audiences a thrilling performance. So Stephen made the needles on a par-5 hole, starting the hole with more than 370 yards of drive!
