I've really mostly enjoyed playing online; no one utilizes a mic so I have not encountered anywhere near the amount of Madden 21 coins abuse I faced in Madden NFL 21. I did get some very salty messages, but generally I believe FIFA 21's matchmaking works nicely; I feel as though I am playing against players in a roughly similar ability level, and this is leading to a competitive matches with entertaining ebbs-and-flows; sometimes I catch roundly beaten by a better player, other times I win professionally too. Fair.
Therefore, unlike Madden NFL 21, I think I'm going to keep on playing throughout the rest of the season. I'm well on my way to qualifying for a Weekend League now, and while I'd hope to get thumped by that kind of competition, I've set myself a goal to keep improving my squad and see how I fit up in that sort environment; I will definitely write about my very first Weekend League once I make it. If I could get only one win, I'd be quite happy.
I do think FIFA 21's Ultimate Team places a little too much emphasis on your own squad; a much better player with the identical squad will conquer you, but a better player with a better squad will absolutely demolish you. With some cards above 90 bringing prices in the millions, it doesn't necessarily feel totally honest. However, building a team that is competitive is addictive, and I am not sure it'd have the exact same appeal if you may easily add, state, Cristiano Ronaldo to your roster.
I think what the sport needs is a much better suite of manners, especially for offline play. Squad Battles was helpful for me when I had been learning how to play the match, but I compare it to something such as Conquest and Showdown in MLB The Show 21, and I am far more compelled to really use my players offline at these modes than I'm to do anything in FIFA 21. There is plenty EA Sports can do here, but it seems like it is placed all of its focus on multiplayer, and left solo drama to languish.
However, I must admit, I've garnered a larger appreciation for FIFA 21's gameplay now I'm playing at a better standard. I still think there are a few big issues; AI controlled players behave strangely occasionally, and it could be infuriating when you are in an internet situation and a player will not run to a loose ball or your pass goes completely astray for no rhyme or reason. But I am playing like"real football" today, and that I even surprised myself how, when watching the recent Chelsea and Manchester United match at the Premier League, I was paying more attention to the functions of every player on the pitch and thinking about how I would be managing each offensive and cheap Mut 21 coins defensive experience.
